Kamal Meattle
Promoter, GreenSpaces & Chief Executive Officer, Paharpur Business Centre
Kamal Meattle is a serial entrepreneur who has extensive experience in the packaging, papers, chemicals and real estate industries in India.
In 1990, he conceived the successful Paharpur Business Centre & Software Technology Incubator Park which is widely recognized as the leading provider of office facilities and related support services to multinational companies operating in Delhi, India. He also had the honor of receiving the PHD Chamber’s “Ethics is good business” award from President of India on behalf of the Paharpur Business Centre is 2005.
More recently, he has been passionate about and is deeply involved in conceptualizing the GreenSpaces Technology Park project which has a stated target goal of developing the world’s most energy efficient large scale commercial building in association with partners in the project such as GE & IBM. The target energy saving is 75%+ over a traditional grade “A” offie building.
As an avid environmentalist, he is the founder of several NGOs such as “Save the Tree Organization”, “Save Two Wheeler on Polluting Delhi” and “Nehru Place Greens.” He is also a trustee of “The Climate Project – India” which was established by Al Gore in India. He has also been featured in the MIT Technology Review as ‘The Mad Hatter of Nehru Place Greens’ and has presented at the TED Conference in USA on ‘How to Grow Your Own Fresh Air’.
Kamal is extensively involved in various industry organizations. He is on the Managing Committee of ASSOCHAM, is Chairman of the Northern Region of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, is an elected member of CII Delhi Committee, is a member of the Indian Green Building Council and also is currently an elected Board member of the MIT South Asian Alumni Association. He is a former member of the Governing Board of the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and the former national President of the Indo American chamber of Commerce and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.
Kamal holds a B. Sc. Degree from Joseph’s College, North Point, Darjeeling and an SM from the Sloan School of Management, MIT, USA. He also attended the Doon School in Dehra Doon, India. He was awarded a Life Time Achievement award by St. Joseph’s College in March 2007 and the MIT Distinguished Alumni Award in September 2007.
